Default What brand of litter to start with?

I just bought my LK, and would like to get started. My 2 cats (age 7-1/2) currently use basic clay-based clumping litter. I would like to start changing over to a recyclable litter in their litter box, then slowly get them started using the LK.

Any suggestions for a brand of litter that won't clog pipes? If so, where did you buy it (U.S.)? Thanks.

I used their regular litter when I first introduced them to the LK as not to make to many changes at one time - then after a week on the Red Stage with no issues I purchased a bag of WORLDS BEST (bio-degradable litter that is save for pipes) - and I mix the two litters half and half while my cats finished off the last week of the Red Stage... during this week I slowly changed the litter over to the new Worlds Best litter only.

Now the cats are ready for the Amber Stage with the Pipe/Septic Tank Safe Litter.
... I place RidX in the tank once a week to keep things moving.

I've used Swheat Scoop for over a year and never have any problem with the drain. I've used World's Best too and I prefer Swheat Scoop over it. It is also more widely available in US in supermarkets or Target and Walmart. When you change the litter, slowly mix the old and the new one together--like 1/4 new and 3/4 old for a couple days, then 1/2 and 1/2 and so on.

Hi, I have been using Close To Nature which is 100% organic for about a year now and have just started to train my girls. I do have to say that I just wouldn't put all the used litter in the toilet - I don't care what the mfg states. I just feel that too much of anything will clog. If some falls into the toilet when we get to that stage I won't worry, but I will still scoop and dispose of the used as I always have. Anyway, this is great stuff, google The Organic Farm Store to find out where it can be purchased or you can order online. I'm in Chicago and don't have much trouble finding this.

I have the same question from the UK. If you look at the PetsatHome website, none of them are obviously recyclable or safe to use in the toilet. Are you talking woodchip or compressed paper pellets? We currently use ultra-clumping litter as it's so much easier to clean up
Maybe Doogie could see what is best around the world and make some suggestions or even recommendations? Could he perhaps talk to some litter companies and get some coupons put into the box when you buy it? (A bit late for me but hey...)

I've found the answer to my own question.
World's Best flushable cat litter is available in the UK. From Pets At Home, amongst others.
Just make sure you get the flushable one!
